Coaching nights and times

Monday U16/17 & Emerging Players Group

Wednesday U13 - U15

Thursday U10 – U12

Friday U7 – U9

Meet at 6.15 for a 6.30 start. We finish at 8.00 Please make sure you are there to collect your child on time.

The season runs from 19th April until the end of July. We carry on regardless of bank holidays and school breaks.

Information for parents

Parental attendance - All juniors under the age of eight should have a responsible person in attendance for the duration of coaching. This can be another parent but your child should be aware of who it is.

Your Child's equipment - Please make sure their name is on all equipment and kit that they bring. Any items left behind will be taken to the bar and put behind the door for collection. If they have a full kit they should bring this each week.  This is not a requirement at U8 and below. Ideally every child should bring a bat.

Our equipment – Please do not take any Banstead equipment (including balls) away from a session.

Warming Up- If you arrive early and would like to do “throw downs” or catching with your child, please do this away from the car park and using a soft ball. Using a hard ball is dangerous and you will be asked to stop.

Dress Code & Comfort

No replica football shirts please!

Whilst we would love to see everyone in Banstead shirts this is not a requirement, normal sports wear will do.

Please make sure they have warm clothing with them. The back field can get pretty chilly in the evenings.

Please also ensure they have a drink with them. They will not be allowed to leave a coaching session to buy drinks from the bar.

Watching training & Coach communication– If you would like to please do feel free to stay and watch coaching sessions.

We aim to develop a standard of coaching of a very high standard and to do this we need coaches to have space to work.

If your child is in the nets please DO NOT stand or sit behind the nets. It is both dangerous and you will be in the way. You can stand to the side by the fence or the car park.

During training sessions and matches please DO NOT shout instructions to your child.

It would be appreciated if you could refrain from talking to the coaches during sessions. Their first concern is safety and they must not be distracted during the sessions. The coaches are happy to chat to you after each session.

Coaching groups – Juniors will be split into their age groups and on occasions we may mix this up to focus on specialist skills. At the younger age groups we will be carrying out assessments in the first few weeks to determine the correct groups for them to work in. We cannot ensure that they train with their mates!

Coach squad this season - Each age group has had a lead coach appointed and they are responsible for the coaching plan for the season. We also have a number of our Young Leaders who will work alongside our senior coaches.

Bar - The bar will be open from 6pm on coaching nights and under our club rules all parents are allowed to use the bar whilst your child is being coached or playing matches. If you wish to use the bar at other times you do need to apply for social membership to ensure we comply with our bar licence. Please take you glasses and bottles back to the bar. It is a constant problem, not only for junior coaching and matches but seniors as well, that these are left around the back field.

Car Park - Please park considerately and take care in the car park, there are lots of young people around! If you park in De Burgh Park, Avenue Road or Court Road please be considerate to our neighbours, do not park on yellow lines or corners. We would like to get through the year without having to deal with complaints about blocked drives and poor access due to parking on the bend in the road or across neighbour’s drives!

Use of the nets outside of coaching times – The nets are there for members use and are available at all times except when coaching is happening or potentially when a match is happening on the back field.

Full protective equipment  must be used when using a hard ball and children shouldn’t be left unsupervised.

Weather - We have no control over the weather! The decision to go ahead with coaching when the weather is bad is down to the coaching team.

If we have to cancel a session we will notify people through our Twitter page.

We will do everything we can to put the sessions on.
